RGT (Robot Global Team), a total solution provider for service robots, has announced the launch of an upgraded 'Retail type' of its serving robot 'SIRBOT', specifically designed for the retail industry including large supermarkets and retail stores.
The new 'Retail type' of SIRBOT features enhanced functions and modules tailored to the large supermarket environment.
Externally, it is equipped with 29-inch LCD screens on the front, back, and sides capable of playing multimedia advertisements. It also includes an advertising board for attaching printed promotional materials and a specially designed bracket to prevent products from spilling.
Additionally, it offers specialized services such as analyzing the robot's implementation effects based on data collected during operation, real-time inventory checks with alerts, and the ability for users to directly record and play voice advertisements. These features optimize promotional activities within the store.
An RGT representative emphasized, "The specialized functions and modules of the SIRBOT Retail type can directly contribute to increasing sales in large supermarkets and retail stores." They added, "Based on our experience as the first to introduce serving robots in supermarkets in South Korea, we have incorporated our latest autonomous driving technology to ensure stable navigation even in complex environments. We have successfully completed driving tests in large spaces exceeding 1,000 pyeong (approximately 3,305 square meters)."
Furthermore, they explained, "SIRBOT is conducting a 'large-scale convergence robot demonstration project' targeting large supermarkets for the first time, with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement. Its introduction has been confirmed in well-known large supermarkets in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas starting from September."
