It has been revealed that a serving robot developed with South Korean technology is gaining recognition for its technological capabilities in the global market and expanding its market presence.
RGT (Robot Global Team), a company specializing in total solutions for service robots, announced on the 2nd Aug that its serving robot, SIRBOT, has entered 12 countries worldwide, including the United States, Japan, and the UAE.
SIRBOT is currently used in 12 countries around the world, including South Korea. These countries are South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.
SIRBOT began its first overseas export in 2021 and is now the first and most widely used serving robot developed with South Korean technology in many foreign countries. Notably, after entering Canada for the first time in 2022, it has recently secured additional supplies to new dining establishments and is currently being installed locally. It is also reported that there are continuous inquiries and orders from overseas buyers.
SIRBOT is a fully autonomous robot that recognizes terrain using LiDAR sensors and 3D cameras. It features patented technology that addresses issues with LiDAR sensors that can cause navigation errors due to sunlight, lighting, or transparent materials, overcoming limitations of existing serving robots.
According to the company, SIRBOT has been preparing various certifications and patents for international expansion and obtained European CE certification in 2023. CE certification means compliance with all EU Council directive requirements on safety, health, environment, and consumer protection, which is essential for selling consumer safety-related products in the European market.
An RGT representative explained, "SIRBOT already plays a role in enhancing service quality in various service industries beyond simple serving functions. Currently, SIRBOT is utilized not only in the food service industry but also in screen golf facilities, gyms, shopping malls, as well as leisure facilities like internet cafes and karaoke rooms.
"The representative added, "Despite the threat posed by low-cost Chinese serving robots occupying more than half of the South Korean market and threatening the ecosystem of South Korean-developed serving robots, SIRBOT—developed entirely with pure South Korean technology—is gaining global attention."
