As the explosive growth of online shopping and labor shortages due to an aging population intensify, the demand for automation and efficiency in the logistics industry is growing. Amidst these changes, autonomous 'logistics robots' are gaining attention. While startups initially led the logistics robot market, recent product launches by large corporations are accelerating market growth. In this context, RGT (Robot Global Team), which developed an autonomous serving robot with pure South Korean technology, has announced an increase in cases where their serving robot 'SIRBOT' is being adopted as a logistics robot.

Currently, the two main types of robots used in the logistics industry are AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot). AGVs move along markers or magnetic tape installed on the floor. However, they struggle to respond quickly to unexpected variables or route changes. On the other hand, AMRs can autonomously navigate to their destination while avoiding obstacles, making them suitable for routes with many changes or large spaces, but they have high initial implementation costs.

SIRBOT is an AI-powered autonomous service robot capable of loading and transporting heavy weights. It can carry up to 240kg for square models and 135kg for round models, features a compact design ideal for narrow spaces, and offers higher price competitiveness compared to general autonomous logistics robots.

An RGT representative explained, "SIRBOT can carry about six times more weight than a regular serving robot, and its detachable tray feature allows efficient transport of various sized items, demonstrating its strength as a logistics robot." They added, "We've already verified its autonomous driving performance in large supermarkets and spaces over 1,000 pyeong (approximately 3,305 square meters), and overcome navigation errors in environments with transparent glass, stainless steel materials, and light reflections using our patented mapping technology." SIRBOT also supports multi-robot operation and integration with various systems including automatic doors and notification bells.

The RGT representative stated, "SIRBOT has all the essential elements of a logistics robot, including the highest South Korean loading capacity, flexible system integration, and advanced autonomous driving performance, while being available at an affordable monthly price range. This has led to increased adoption in small and medium-sized logistics centers and manufacturing plants recently." They added, "Being developed with 100% South Korean technology, allowing for rapid technical support and customized optimization, is also a significant advantage."

RGT announced plans to supply customized service robot solutions for various industrial environments through the development of additional loading and transport assistance devices and system integration for SIRBOT.
